By the numbers

Run by people who've actually done it.

Built to teams of 7–9

Both from a standing start, in under five years, and both still run by us.

Advising between us

Written from the front line, not from a coaching qualification.

Dozens
Of brokers helped scale

From advisers going on their own to firms building their first team.

Who we've helped so far

Real firms, at every stage of the journey.

Some were employed at a network, writing cases for somebody else and working out how to make the leap.

Some were on their own, writing a handful a month and wanting something steadier.

Others were earning well but buried — keying applications at ten at night, chasing lenders all day, and ready to get off the tools and build a team instead.

Scale

David — a one man band, at capacity

David was doing the advice, the admin, the chasing and the marketing. There was no room left to grow because there were no hours left to grow in.

  • Found and onboarded admin support
  • Set up a CRM so the process ran without him holding it together
  • Freed roughly 20 hours a week to spend on the business rather than in it
  • Planned and costed his first adviser hire

“I was doing everything myself — advice, admin, chasing, all of it. Getting admin support was the thing I'd been putting off for two years. It gave me back about twenty hours a week and I put every one of them into building the business. I'm taking on my first adviser now, and there'll be three of us.”

Who this is (and isn't) for.

This is for you if

  • You're qualified, or soon to be, so you can write business under your own firm.
  • You're willing to be challenged, coached and pushed beyond your comfort zone.
  • You want to grow through brand, positioning and authority — not by competing on fee.
  • You can think independently, make decisions and own the implementation.
  • You'll put in consistent effort for at least three months, even before results show.

This isn't for you if

  • You haven't written a case yet and are still working through your qualifications.
  • You're unwilling to be challenged or pushed outside your comfort zone.
  • You want to grow by being the cheapest broker in your area.
  • You're after quick wins without consistent effort over at least three months.
  • You rely on being told exactly what to do, rather than thinking critically for yourself.
  • You're unwilling to raise your standards around clients, fees and delivery.

The 12-stage strategy.

Every brokerage owner struggles with one of twelve things. Follow the path below to find yours.

Get it off the ground
01

Setting up

I don't know where to start.

02

Selection of client type

I don't know what niche to specialise in.

03

Supply of leads

I can't generate a reliable flow of enquiries.

04

Marketing & brand

Nobody finds me, and my website does nothing when they do.

Fill the diary, then convert it
05

Networking & introducers

Every broker in my area is knocking on the same doors as me.

06

Selling the service

I get the opportunities and too many of them disappear.

07

Client value

I'm writing mortgages and missing everything around them.

08

Systems & software

It's all in my head. If I'm not there, nothing happens.

Build something that runs without you
09

Recruitment

I don't know who to hire, when, or where to find them.

10

Scaling a team

I don't know how to scale beyond doing everything myself.

11

Profitability

Turnover looks fine. I've no idea where the profit goes.

12

Ownership & exit

I'm growing, and losing control of it as I go.

Recognise more than one of these?

Most brokers are stuck on two or three. Six weeks is enough to work out which, and fix them in the right order.

What changes

The first hire is usually what changes everything.

A few of those first hires, as they happened.

Who we are

Jamie and Sam

Jamie runs Strive Mortgages, Sam runs The Mortgage and Protection Hub. In under five years we've gone from one man bands leaving employment to teams of 14 between us — and we each bring something different.

Jamie Elvin
Strive Mortgages

Jamie Elvin

Runs Strive Mortgages — a team of six and growing, completing around 50 mortgages a month, and one of the strongest firms in the south of England.

Built an organic Google presence that brings in 150+ enquiries a month without paying for a single click, alongside exclusive arrangements with multiple estate agents.

More about Jamie

Over 13 years advising — seven of them as an estate agency broker for a large corporate, and a high street bank before that.

Left employment, went out on his own, and built Strive from a one man band.

Now runs the business rather than writing the cases, and is a property landlord and investor.

Strengths

Online marketing · lead generation · web design · content marketing · recruitment

The Mortgage and Protection Hub

Sam Mason

Runs The Mortgage and Protection Hub, built from solo adviser to a full team in under five years, on the back of exclusive relationships with high-end London estate agents and wealth firms.

A mortgage broker since he was 19 — the youngest ever at the large firm he started with.

More about Sam

An estate agency mortgage background and a stint at a high street bank before going out on his own.

Still in his twenties and further ahead than most advisers years older — a well-known name in the space, which opens doors for the people around him as well as himself.

Now focused on running and growing the firm, and holds shares in several other ventures.

Strengths

Networking · building a personal brand · staff development · recruitment

We're running these businesses right now — not remembering what it was like.

A lot of people selling training to advisers did the job ten years ago, or never ran a business at all. Both brokerages are live and both are still growing, so everything we teach is something we're using this year. We'd rather build a community, connect people to the right contacts, and give something back. Learn from our lessons instead of paying for them yourself.

Next cohort opening soon — limited spaces.
Why we run this

Not theory. Two firms we built and still run.

We both left employment with no book, no brand and no idea what we were doing, and we both learned it the expensive way — the wrong hires, the wrong suppliers, the marketing spend that went nowhere. Between us that's years of mistakes you don't need to repeat.

Once the firms stopped needing us for every case, brokers started asking the same question: how did you do it? Answering it one coffee at a time was the best part of our week, so we turned it into something proper.

We're not looking to leave the industry and sell courses. We're still writing, still hiring, still growing both businesses — and the framework here is simply what we're doing this year, handed over while it's still current.

Confidence and clarity, not stumbling around in the dark.

Most brokers trying to build their own firm are figuring it out alone — Googling, guessing, hoping the next decision is the right one. The Adviser Lab replaces that with a clear framework and a room full of people doing the same thing, so you always know exactly what to focus on next.

The investment

What's the return?

The only guarantee we offer is this: if you don't put the work in consistently, you will not get results. There's no magic here — the framework works when you do.

That said, based on what current members are achieving, we'd expect a single completion to cover the entire investment several times over — assuming you follow the process and take it seriously.

Questions

FAQs.

Is this for brokers starting from scratch, or only for those with an existing firm?

Both, but they're different courses. Launch is for advisers who haven't gone on their own yet and want the foundations in place before they do. Scale is for people already writing who want to grow past £10k a month and hire.

Do I need to be qualified to join?

Yes — CeMAP or equivalent, or within six months of qualifying. Everything here assumes you can already write a case. We cover the business around the advice, not the advice itself.

Do I need to leave my network?

No. We'll show you how to work out what your current deal is genuinely worth and give you the comparison calculator. Plenty of members stay exactly where they are and simply negotiate better terms.

Why are you running this if you already have successful brokerages?

Because sharing what we know costs us nothing and the market is enormous. We've both had huge value from owners further along than us being open with us, and this is the same thing at scale.

How long is the Scale course, and when does it run?

Six weeks, one live session a week. They're interactive rather than a lecture — bring your own business, ask questions as we go, and there's a Q&A in every session. Everything is recorded and goes up afterwards if you can't make one live.

Is there any support between calls?

Yes. The community is active daily, and the fastest answers usually come from other members dealing with the same problem that week.

What kind of clients will this help me attract?

Whichever ones you choose. A large part of the framework is picking a niche — contractors, self-employed, landlords, professionals — then building the marketing, criteria knowledge and introducer network around it.

Is this compliance or technical training?

No. Your network handles compliance and criteria. This is leads, conversion, systems, hiring, profit, and what the business is worth at the end.

Can we have a call before I sign up?

Of course. Join the waitlist and we'll get a call in the diary — tell us where the business is stuck and we'll tell you honestly whether this is the right thing for you, or what to go and do instead.

There's a ceiling on what one broker can write.

You'll hit it whether you want more money or your evenings back. Six weeks, and you'll know exactly what to do about it.
